IRONMAN week 5/46 Base training
5 week update
Well… the triathlon training is picking up. I have “official” names for thinks and I’m picking up the lingo. I even have the brief nod, hello or well done from one of the “elite” triathlon guys. I’d love to pull them up on their diet, running styles or training methods but I’m undercover. I have learned never to tell people what I do. I was training and was lumbered with a guy asking me about weight loss for 30 minutes on Friday. Hence the reason I train at a club I don’t work at! I’m slowly being found out. Can you imagine if they found out about the therapy I do…. work wise amazing, training wise I wouldn’t get anywhere.
At the moment I am doing “base” training. Getting ridiculously fit and then developing a pattern and format leading up to Christmas ready for a 13 week push in the New Year.
If all of this means nothing to you then allow me let you catch up. 5 weeks ago I entered an ironman triathlon. Not being able to run further that 6 miles, owning a bike and hating swimming I am now all singing all dancing tri athlete. I have previously done a sprint triathlon a few years ago, but nothing can prepare for 2.4 mile swim, 112 bike ride and 26 mile run – oh, I forgot to mention it’s in Texas!!
So week 5 of 46 gone. I add a weekly video blog to my YouTube channel, marvinburton2007 each week and on face book as well. Let’s hope channel 4 or BBC 3 pick up on me soon and we can let the rest of the world see how a crazy fool like me does it. I am using my own methods, own nutrition and training on my own. This may seem mad however, I have been hanging around these guys for 5 weeks now. I’m not going to let me body look like theirs. Sorry any of them read this, but if that training does that to you then I would revisit fitness education. Yet another sport to add to my prehistoric methods list along with boxing and football. The effects of intense training with correct training shouldn’t leave you looking like that. I’m going for the roman gladiator look. Let’s see. Each month I have been taking photos of me and body measurements so when I get some more date I will publish it for you to see.

TFN Triathlon Lake swim – Colwick Park Nottingham (lake swim) £2.50 + membership 1 off payment of £15 sunday aternoons 3-5
I have also entered Derby, Nottingham & Blithfield Triathlons. All coming up in the next few weeks.
